Mindfulness and Wellbeing

“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”
Aristotle

All children are amazing and unique and have differing needs emotionally, socially and academically. This is more evident today than ever before and more children are describing feelings of anxiety, stress and sadness than in previous times.

It is important that parents and children understand that mental health is just as important as physical health and that all the different emotions we experience are valid and need to be met with curiosity and reflection. Working through these emotions is the key to managing our mental health and wellbeing. We want to aid and equip children with a strong understanding of what mental health and wellbeing is and provide a clear set of strategies that help to support their development in all areas of their lives.

We believe that a child’s wellbeing is central to them achieving in all of the above and finding balance to enable them to live and function effectively in their lives today and in the future.

As a Primary School Teacher, I began using Mindfulness practises in the classroom a number of years ago. It has proved a great way to deal with children’s anxieties and behaviour and the positive responses I have witnessed inspired me to share these methods in a small group capacity.

Teaching children about the way their brain works is central to their understanding of how and why they think and behave in a certain way. We teach them to understand the science behind this and calming and mindful strategies to assist them to live their best life possible.
